It seems that most of us just can not give up meat. Some of us though, try to cut back a little and even take part in world wide campaigns like Meatless Monday, in which one day every week you don’t eat meat.
Still there are many people who gave up meat and now are eating only vegetables and other products, and they are called vegetarians.
So which one are you? If you want to eat meat but still enjoy some of the advantages of being a vegetarian, here are some things that you should remember.
1. Never forget about the vegetables and when you are building your menu, put them first on the list. Many times, if you have a delicious meal made with vegetables, you will not even want to eat meat.
2. Choose vegetable fats instead of animal fats because they reduce inflammation in your body and thus help to prevent a lot of diseases, including obesity. So get used to always have an avocado in the house – you can use eat it breakfast, put it in salads, like guacamole. You should also have olive oil and fruit oil in your pantry all the time.
3. Eat more legumes as they are among the most nutritious foods in the world, rich in fiber and protein and low in fat. What are they exactly? Beans, peas, lentils, chickpeas, soybeans, beans. Vegetarians eat them very often, mainly for their high protein content. But legumes have other health benefits: according to studies, they help you get rid of fat from the abdomen, regulates your appetite, improve your digestion and decrease your risk of diabetes or heart disease.
4. Eat vegetables and nuts as a snack or even fruits live an apple or a banana. They will give you the energy you need and will keep your tummy full until the next meal.
5.Turn vegetables in healthy desserts by using season vegetables. There are some wonderful desserts like pumpkin pie and carrot cake that you must try!
